Speedy Friday 6/30

Speed work was on the menu tonight. I ran over to Kezar and did 8 reps for 30 seconds then rest for 3/4 of a lap. Not much of a course or path to follow, just an intense heart workout using quick bursts of stress or exertion.

While why legs and feet feel good I am more tired after doing this than after most runs.

Hell on Hills

Tonight's run wasn't really running, it was hill and stair climbing. The turn-around point is the top of Coit Tower so you know there is some climbing. On the way there I use Greenwich Street which has staircase after staircase.

The water stops on this route include the park at Greenwich and Hyde, a playground on Greenwich not not far past Hyde, and the top of Coit Tower. This path also includes the Lyon Street Stairs. whew!

Cheesy

I received a FREE cheese steak tonight. Thanks to my insatiable appetite for the Philadelphia special I filled my frequent eater card and was rewarded with a FREE cheese steak. I don't know if that is a good thing that I am eating so many cheese steaks.

Foggy Saturday

Boy, how the weather has changed. Last weekend I was running under sunny skies in the low 80's, this morning it is foggy in the high 50's. I love running in the fog, especially through The Presidio. With it misty the moisture drips from the eucalyptis trees and you get pelted with drops. Here is my foggy day path today just shy of 7miles.

This is nice run but not for those who do not like hills. The big one is running up Lincoln Blvd. It is scenic overlooking the Pacific but it is steep. The path also takes you up the Lyon Street Stairs.

Almost Racist

Marin Monday 6/19

I took a much needed bike ride after work today. Here is this route:

I headed over to the Marin Headlands for just under 18 miles but it is 18 with one big climb. Heading out to the lighthouse is a long and intense climb probably close to 3 miles along. The wind was blowing good crossing the Golden Gate Bridge I would estimate at 20 mph.

Quite a few bikers were on the road this evening as well.

Land's End - Sunday 6/18

I had one of those days where I felt like I could run forever. Today's run was just over 7 1/2 miles but the combination of gorgeous weather paired with a hearty breakfast did wonders.

I headed down to Land's End and the Coastal Trail. The Coastal Trail is one of the hidden treasures of The City, at least in the fact that it is less populated with locals and tourists than the Marina Green, Crissy Field and Ocean Beach as running venues. Along the way you pass Lincoln Park Golf Course and the Legion of Honor. The Coastal Trail also features several offshoots to explore as well.

One of the highlights for me is a quick diversion towards Fort Miley to check out the old Nike Missle site and the Octogon Lookout House.

Tahoe going to the dogs

Spent the last few days in Tahoe for a wedding. My money stayed there. The ceremony was held at Edgewood Golf Course which was nice but the couple incorporated their dogs into the ceremony by carrying out the rings. I couldn't help but wonder what they would have done if they had cats as pets. The cats wouldn't want any part of this goofy ritual. Only dogs are dumb enough to join in the spectacle. I love dogs. I love playing catch with them at the park and running with them but having them in a wedding is a bit much for me. But I guess you can look at this way, everybody in the wedding party will now be on a leash.

I didn't take any photos of the dogs, I thought the grandeur of Tahoe was better.
